Last week I was in Buffalo, NY to train members of Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO) on how to get more time.
In this brief video, I share with you one of the principles I taught them. You’ll learn how a very simple system can make your gatekeepers much more effective.
P.S. This is the best backdrop ever! You’re not likely see a more spectacular place for a video. Watch it and you’ll see what I mean.
Share: what other tips do you have to make gatekeepers more effective in reducing switchtasking?

Hey folks Dave Crenshaw here. I am, if you can’t guess behind me… I’m in beautiful Niagara Falls New York. I’m speaking tomorrow in Buffalo to Entrepreneurs Organization EO. I’m going to be teaching them about how to be productive. And I thought you know “Hey, let’s just have a nice little scenic environment”. I’m going to share with you one tip that I’m going to share with them tomorrow about how to get more time. One of the biggest problems CEO’s have is they do not have enough time in their day to develop their business, to help grow their business. So one of the things that I’m going to do is teach them about the Yes-No- Maybe list and that’s a really simple way that anyone can establish a gatekeeper between them and all the different calls that are coming in. So it’s really simple, you just take a piece of paper and create three columns. At the top of the first column you have “Yes”. At the top of the second column you have “No”. And at the top of the third column you have “Maybe”. And then you list all of the things that you will allow a gatekeeper to get through to you. Now gatekeeper can be receptionist, a gatekeeper can be a personal assistant, an answering service, it can even be an automated phone message system. But by setting up the three columns- “Yes” these are all the calls that I want to come through, “No” these are the calls that I don’t want to come through and “Maybe” these are the calls that I might want to come through so allow me to screen them first. That will help you get more time and reduce the number of switches that takes place in your day. So check that out try that, the Yes-No-Maybe list. I’m going to enjoy a little bit more of Niagara Falls and go have a fantastic day.
